Welcome to the June issue of the MED Magazine, the monthly webzine of the Macmillan English Dictionaries resource site!

In the Language Awareness column, the third part of the Academic English article gives advice on two key components of essay writing: structure and vocabulary.

The top tips explain how the Macmillan English Dictionary can be used as a thesaurus. In this article we also give you ideas on how you can create your own vocabulary extension activities.

German and English false friends are the focus of the Language Interference column. The article investigates the different types of false friends between the two languages and gives advice on how learners can avoid the traps of deceptive similarities.

In the new word column we return to the topic discussed in the feature article last month: politics and language. This month you can read about new words and new meanings from the domain of politics.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. If you would like to contact us, please fill in this form and e-mail it to us. Click here to see what other readers have said about the MED Magazine.
