Welcome to the Christmas issue of the MED Magazine, the monthly webzine of the Macmillan English Dictionary resource site!

In this month's feature article we take a look at Christmas celebrations and their origin. You can also find a useful glossary listing words that are associated with the festive season.

Our regular column about the Macmillan English Dictionary CD-ROM in this issue gives you tips on how you can find and practise Christmas vocabulary with the help of WordSearch and TextSearch. You will also find a Christmas crossword (120 KB PDF format) in this article.

The new word of this month is related to one of the main activities of the Christmas period: giving presents to friends and family.

We are continuing the series on Language Interference with a closer look at the different types of False Friends and why they are important to learn about.

In this month's article on Language Awareness we look at how a CV/résumé is written and provide you with some helpful expressions that are often used.

We welcome your suggestions and comments. If you would like to contact us, please fill in this form and email it to us.
